Right, so I was doing some housecleaning and created a new category. Quick updated a number of chunks to that category and one other existing category, saved and closed. All went well, even used drag and drop for the last few chunks.
Resource tree refreshed, and a number of the chunks are back in the no category default area below all the categories. Check one of these previously saved chunks with the new category, and it's set to none again.
New category is mysteriously missing from the tree. And guess what? Also is the other existing category, and all it's chunks are also gone now.
DB contains the entries for the chunks and the categories, I cannot create new with the same names.
What freaky hole swallowed up my chunks? Why did it spit out some of the chunks, but not all from the lost categories? I assume my TV's are lost now as well. Category tree shows neither category now.
I've cleared the cache both ways.

I find, in the db that these two lost categories are set to parent id 83. These, and a few others that I haven't seen but did create at one time. I am unsure of if these other categories have chunks assigned or not.
I do not have a category 83. There are only 45 categories total.
I'm going to try to change back to parent 0 like the rest of the normal categories. (edit: this worked). Although how and why would they become set to have a parent id that does not exist?
I did see a duplicate copy of the chunks tree just under the original/top chunk tree while I was doing the housecleaning. It's got to be related...
