    Sorry it didn't work, Jesse. If you paste the contents from your right sidebar as you see it in the manager, I might be able to suggest how to change it. My earlier reply was based on guesswork from what the actual resource shows.

    Mahalo,

    I totally understand that a snippet would work here, but I am still wondering why output modifiers aren't working.

    Code:
    <!-- <a class="download" href="[[*widgetNewsDownload]]">[[*widgetNewsDownloadTitle]]</a> -->
    [[*widgetNewsDownload:notempty=`<a class="download" href="[[*widgetNewsDownload]]">[[*widgetNewsDownloadTitle]]</a>`:else=``]]
    <!-- <img src="[[*widgetNewsImage]]" alt="[[*pagetitle]]"> -->
    <div class="widget burgWidget">
    	<script type="text/javascript">
    	    var __machform_url = 'http://orangeroc.com/machform/embed.php?id=2135';
    		var __machform_height = 641;
    	</script>
    	<div id="mf_placeholder"></div>
    	<script type="text/javascript" src="http://ajax.googleapis.com/ajax/libs/jquery/1.6.1/jquery.min.js"></script>
    	<script type="text/javascript" src="http://orangeroc.com/machform/js/jquery.ba-postmessage.min.js"></script>
    	<script type="text/javascript" src="http://orangeroc.com/machform/js/machform_loader.js"></script>
    </div>
    <div class="widget widgetText">
    	<h4>Compass Point</h4>
    	<p>Hawaii mattis consectetur purus sit amet fermentum. Nulla vitae elit libero, a pharetra augue.</p>
    	<ol>
    		<li>Click the “Like” icon</li>
    		<li>Complete the entry formt.</li>
    	</ol>
    </div>
    <a class="buttonFlat" href="#">Pay your tenant dues</a>

    Any ideas?

        Not really. We do something similar with a files TV:

        [[[[*files:notempty=`$filesmenu`]]]]

        Where the $filesmenu chunk is rendered if the files TV is not empty (we don't bother using the documented method of element modifiers because they slow down rendering, we use the method outlined in this blog post. As Bob asked, what is output? For example, if you just place [[*widgetNewsDownload]] on the page all by itself does it render something?

        Also, if you don't have anything in the else value I don't think you need it.
