    As per thread title.

I’m looking to make the top level links in a site blank # so that they lead nowhere but still use the a: hover mouseover as dictated in the site CSS.

The drop down links below the top level will be used for all navigation.

I’d also like to put more hyperlinks on the right bar of the page to ’News’ items while removing the ’Most recent’ section that is currently below it.

Template is currently a modified version of MODxHost, with colours and graphics changed but little else.

No idea where to start rolleyes

Nobody got any ideas how I might achieve this ?

I basically want the top level links to be # and all navigation to run through the drop-downs.

Did you find and read the Wayfinder documentation? You can find the example for &parentRowTpl and it’s said it’s the template chunk for any document that is a folder. So assuming that your top level links are folders, you should be able to do create a chunk for &parentRowTpl that looks like this (untested, adjust it to your needs):

        <li [+wf.classes+]><a href="#" title="[+wf.title+]">[+wf.linktext+]</a>[+wf.wrapper+]</li>

Ah, now that makes a lot of sense.

The Wayfinder documentation looked a bit scary to a relative newcomer to CMS’s, but the concept as you explain it suddenly seems to simplify things tremendously.

I’ll play around with it and see what happens.

Thanks for pointing me in (hopefully) the right direction smiley

            rolleyes

The one thing I totally overlooked was that this is a global change throughout the site; meaning even the Home link leads nowhere...

            Hmmmmm....

More thought required on this it seems....

If I could hard code the home link and leave the rest I’d be happy.

I think you could define a chunk for &outerTpl (outer Template) and hardcode the home link into that, and then exclude the home folder with &excludeDocs from your Wayfinder call. Maybe there are other solutions, it’s just coming to my mind like that ...
