Hi,
Is is possible to have a tv create a resized image using php thumb when it is set rather than when it is rendered in the front end ?
jep, have a look at ImageTV+, it's not bugfree yet, but a very nice TV type =)!

@exside, do you have a link to that?

Thank you, this looks good, unfortunately it does not work with migx. I will take a peek at the code and see if I can apply something similar to my image tv of choice - simple file upload.

unfortunately yes, doesn't work with MIGX =/, as I said, it definitely could use some refactoring, I would, but I just suck at extJS...
then you could maybe use @SNIPPET in conjunction with phpThumb(Of) for the simplefileuploadtv? Would be interested if that works!
Its possible to upload and resize images on uploading them with this method.

Its also possible to define multiple sizes in the mediasource-configuration.
see what the resizeconfigs-mediasource-property does for more information:

I tried just setting the path in a snippet, but it is ignored:
<?php
$val = "slideshow";
return $val;
I think first of all you would need to find out how to get the path of the file when it's uploaded (probably no way around scanning the code), then when you have that, you could maybe do something with it. where are you trying to insert that path?
