Create Here/Quick Create resource behaviour

This may or may not be an interesting one. I created some Form Customisations for a client so that when they create a resource, a specific template is used and certain fields are hidden.

When using the New Document button under the Resources tab or New Document option under the Site menu, it works as expected. However, if I use the Quick Create or Create Document Here options on the Resources tree, when I right-click on a resource to create a document and the document I'm right-clicking on uses a different template, the Form Customisations don't come into play. A document is created using the template of the document I right-clicked on when I selected Quick Create etc.

I assume this is expected behaviour but is confusing to my client. Any thoughts on how to get round that one? I have thought about hiding the tree but the client is already used to using it (and it's very useful anyway).

AFAIK, the Form Customization rules only affect the Create/Edit Resource panel, so it's normal that they wouldn't be applied in the context menu.

The only workarounds I can think of are a plugin that checks the ID of the parent and sets the template (and I'm not sure what events are fired when you quick-create a Resource) or some fairly unpleasant JavaScript to do the same thing and alter the quick-create form.

Maybe someone else has a better idea.

You can block use of the Quick Create and Quick Edit context menu items in the Policy Template used for a group.

Susan, I found the Quick Create and Quick Update options in the ACL I created for my client and I've disabled them. This appears to have removed them so thanks for that wee tip!

I still have the issue with the Create Document Here option but your advice has certainly helped.
