    Has anyone come across this?

I’ve installed Modx 0.9.6. With the initial install, all seems good... I can see the standard "Base Install" page without any problems. When I create my own template and corresponding CSS however, things immediately blow up.

When I’m logged into the manager I can go to my web site and see things fine (the page and css load without a hitch)... but when logged out of the manager and I reload my site, the page disappears. Nothing shows up when I do a "view source" either.

Am I doing something horribly wrong? I’ve checked all permissions on the folders (including the css) and it doesn’t seem to have any issues there. Please help... I’ve installed about a hundred times and I’m at my wits end! I’m beyond desperate and ready to call it quits with ModX!

This is a known issue with 0.9.6. On webservers that are configured to enable auto_prepend_file by the php.ini setting the problem occurs. It will be solved in the next release, until then you can resolve the issue as follows:

Open the link below in your browser and download the zip by clicking the link "Zip Archive" at the end of the page. This file contains an index.php which includes the bugfix. Then simply upload this file to your webserver, overwriting the old version and your website frontend should be fixed.

Thanks for your post - I downloaded the zip file as you recommended and uploaded the index.php to my server. However, it doesn’t seem to have helped! It’s still not loading unless I’m logged into the manager. Any other suggestion? Is this an issue with my host? Do I need to do something on that end?

I think you need to publish the page?

It’s the document that’s linked to the site_start variable, so it cannot be unpublished. But I’m trying everything you tell me to do!

Dumb question but is your site "Offline" (Tools > Configuration > Site >> Site Status : ) ?

You might also want to check the database itself as to the published status of the pages in question; while it is true that you cannot unpublish the "site_start" page from the Manager, a database hiccup could set that to 0.

Thanks to everyone who attempted to help out! It turns out it was a server issue as noted in the first reply posting.

I asked my web host to change the prepend - he did so using my .htaccess file by adding: php_value auto_prepend_file none

Not sure why that worked and placing that code in the index.php file didn’t... but it works now.
