Login Reset Password Handler does not redirect

php version 5.3.15
Login version 1.8.1

Discovered that the reset password feature does not redirect to the desired login resource - all other functionality seems to work...even went to the tutorial and ran through that on a fresh install with only Login and Formit installed, had my resources named the same as the tutorial and have repeatedly checked for typos. Also cleared caches on all browsers used, cleared site cache, even found my host procedures to upgrade php (they still had me on 5.2) - no joy.

Suggestions?

Sorry not to include that in the description - it goes to the page that the password reset handler is placed (which I left blank as in the tutorial) and stops rather than going to the resource in the &loginResourceId property.

Did some more testing and found that the email client that I was using - Squirrel Mail - seems to be the problem. Whether I clicked the reset link in the email or copied the link to paste in to a browser address line it didn't work. Sent the reset password email to an account that happens to be in the Google client and the link works. If someone understands what that's all about and wouldn't mind enlightening me I'd sure appreciate it!

Is the link that's being formed coming out exactly the same in each email client?

It appears to be - as one of my tests I simply forwarded the SquirrelMail message from the inbox to the other email client and the reset stopped with the blank page - no redirect message. However if I set up an email forwarder so that the email never went into the SquirrelMail inbox, but went to the other email client directly the handler worked.

So the email address is being broken by the way SquirrelMail parses the email. Could you please paste the links, the broken one that SquirrelMail is giving, and the correct one from another client.

Hrrm odd. Can you advise the format of your emails. Plain text or HTML?

I know I have had issues in the past with plain text truncating long links, wrapping them onto two lines and affectively breaking them?

The hashed reset password links generated by modx are pretty long normally.

I am guessing if you are sending the same email to two clients and it works in one and not the other it must be specific to the email client rather than the email generation.

As a side note as well I have found if you are logged in to the manager it can effect what web user pages are accessible (dependant on the permissions). When dev'ing logon stuff I try to dev in one browser and test in another just so there is not conflicting permissions between web users and manger users being logged into the same browser....messed me up before.

Clicking on it sends you to the test site reset password page. The link in the address line:

When forwarding the email out of the SquirrelMail account to another account the result is the same - in each case the reset password page appears (and it's blank) but does not provide redirect to the login page. Have tried the link in Chrome, Firefox, Opera.

Rather than using SquirrelMail I went into Horde (this is taking place through cpanel that I'm switching email clients) have the same link as above and clicking on it takes me correctly to the reset password page with the correct redirection message and available link which works.

The associated domain is a test domain I use to try out various MODX features before I attempt them on development sites that I own. It's a rip/reload location used to try things on fresh installs, so if any MODX'rs would like to use it to take a look I'd be happy to give you access. Just PM me.
