GMaps - working examples or good how-to needed.

I am trying to get gmaps showing a single marker on a map together with a small window with textual information about the location.

Can someone point me to a good how-to or ideally some working examples?

Your help would be greatly appreciated.

Being lazy, I'd go with something like this http://gmap3.net/ or this http://hpneo.github.com/gmaps/
