Default theme images for manager not showing up

Here’s an odd problem. Yesterday I installed Modx Revolution 2.2.6-pl (traditional) on a shared host I’ve used before in the past. The only difference from that previous occasion was I used Evolution at the time.

When I logged into the manager for the first time I noticed something really weird, all the images pulled through the style sheet for the manager’s default theme were missing.

For example the tiny triangles next to say a parent resource that you would click to see child resources under it, is gone. I can click on that area and the child resources will appear but the image itself is invisible.

Another example is when I was creating a TV and choosing what resources can access it. The checkbox icons are gone. Again, I can click on where they should be, and the manager selects them but I can’t see the checkbox at all.

I took a look at the manager page via firebug (I’m using Firefox 19.0.2 by the way if that helps) and it’s stating that the given url has failed to load.

Also, if I use firebug and jump up two directories from the url it's looking for, I can get the given image to load in.

This modx install is in the top level of our public directory and I haven’t moved the files within the install around anywhere so in theory they should all be where they need to be and looking in the right places.

I also checked the config file and everything thing looks like it's pointing to the right places in the directory, so this is really perplexing.

Any help or advice would be greatly appreciated!

Try going into the system settings, and in the "backend and manager" area, set the compress_css and compress_js settings to no.

You also might want to clear your browser cache and cookies for the domain, and manually delete the folders in /core/cache/.

Quick question, there's about 14 folders in the cache folder, should I delete them all? I was just surprised to find so many.

Yes, delete them all. Revo has a very complex caching system. Sometimes it steps on itself.

That did it! All my images are back in the manager, thank you so much! I guess something got messed up in the compressed version of the css?

Hard to tell. You could always set it back to compress, and see what happens, if you're curious enough.

Yeah I'd like to try and figure out why it did that at some point. But, I'm happy it's working now, thanks again!
