If your experience of a CMS is that you got a blank screen after installation it's only natural you are going to leave a negative review. I remember when I used Revolution that the forums had quite a few new users having login issues, so in some cases bad reviews are deserved. However, I've yet to see a CMS that hasn't had bad reviews.

I doubt the MODX developers are going to lose any sleep over the other fake reviews.

I think negative reviews are the result of expectations not being met. For a painter, you show them a blank canvas, and they'll say, "Now I can get to work." For those with little artistic ability (e.g. me) showing a blank canvas feels like a let down. Show them a Paint by Number set (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Paint_by_number), and they'll say, "Now I can get to work." MODX is the canvas for the artists, NEWBX is Paint By Number.

How's that for a deep yet lame analogy?

          Regards,
          Tom

            1. One need to have a working knowledge of HTML and CSS at minimum to use this product.
            2. After first install, the front home page will be blank and that is expected.
            3. Dynamic menu system will require wayfinder extra.
            4. Page aggregation will require getResources extra.
            5. There are bunch of other nifty extras like thumbnail, breadcrumb, gallery etc.,
            6. RTFM!

More drag and drop, less typing, integrating an IDE can be the solution.
