If you (like me) use a local Apache server on Windows for testing and want to set it all up on Windows and then upload to Linux host there is an issue of absolute paths which are different in the database. The problem is in assets and file manager paths.

Typically on Windows these paths would be something like:

    C:\Apache\www
    C:\Apache\www\assets

Where on Linux host these would look more like:

    /home/someuser/public_html
    /home/someuser/public_html/assets

Of course, being stored in the database this may cause some problems.

I am guessing that this can be easily avoided simply by exporting all tables except modx_system_settings table but the again I may be wrong and these paths could be stored in some other tables as well. Except this, import/export of database would probably work fine between 2 installations.

Is there another table (or config file) I should look for for these kind of differences?

The easiest way probably is to dump the complete db locally and import it on the host, logging into the manager and then adjust the paths in the configuration.

There’s an article in the wiki: http://wiki.modxcms.com/index.php/Moving_Site_To_Another_Location
