I hope this isn't too silly of a question, but here goes:
I have a son in college working for an organization that uses the university's email system—L-Soft ListServ— for distribution of email. From what I can gather, my son types up an email, and then sends it to a specific email address, which is essentially the "name of their list" @"such-n-such-domain.com. I'm pretty sure that the ListServ only accepts emails from a dedicated/registered computer. It sounds to me like his organization can only send an email. There is no access to a control panel or method of sending test emails. This might be because the ListServ is managed by some IT group that is also managing lists for hundreds of other organization. So.... to date...my son's organization is limited to sending basic text only emails, or whatever can be developed in outlook.
I would like to provide them with a consistent look (template) for all of their emails and have them be a bit more stylized.
Could I use MODx to build an email template for him? Basically, just to give him an interface where he can insert content into the TVs that I create.
I'd use tables, establish inline styles, use absolute paths for images, etc. etc. I thought this might be easier for him than going in hunting and pecking amongst html code.
Once a page is created, I would have him navigate to the page using the dedicated/registered computer and perform the "Send Contents of This Page", mailing it to their email list.
Does anyone think this might be a workable solution?

Most mailers that I know of can use a given URL as its email to send, so you can certainly use an ordinary MODx resource for that. I've done it before using the perl DADA mailer. Of course, that depends on what kind of mailer script is being used.
Thanks for the response. I'll set up a test html page and see if the URL method will work. Then I can determine whether to move forward with developing a content mgt interface for them to use for creating future html emails.
