    Why is the articles resource type missing both Summary (introtext) and Long Title fields? Maybe is just me, but it doesn't make any sense to me.

      Yup. I agree with you.
      Articles is in its own league sometimes; after all it is an Extra.

      Its "Summary" is both *introtext and *description. Longtitle is ba-bye

      Mind you, those fields are like TVs, so you can create your own.
      If you want uniformity in your template, say you were using *Description in the meta tag, and want to use the same Template for the articles, do something like
      <meta name="description" content="[[*description:default=`[[*introtext]]`]]" />

        This isn't a no go issue, but it's very annoying to me. Things will get a bit more complicated for my client who I'll be teaching how to use the CMS for no reason at all.

        Unfortunately I can't use the Description field as a Summary replacement because I'm already using it for the meta tag and it also has a 250 character limit. Therefore I'll create a new TV, but I'm not very happy with it.

          I'm in the same boat. The database still has the fields so it really is just a matter of displaying them in the Articles extra.

            As you say Article *does* have those fields, it just doesn't show them in the form. There may be a way to alter the form using a plugin so it would show those fields.

            Probably an easier route would be to create your TVs, then use a plugin to set the actual introtext and longtitle fields from the TVs when the form is saved.

            The values could then be shown with the usual tags (hopefully) in the Tpl chunk used to display an article.

              I've added a tv called blog_description. I would like to use blog_description for the description meta-tag.

              <meta name="description" content="[[*description:default=`[[*introtext]]`]]" />

              is working fine, but when I change *introtext in *blog_description nothing is displayed.

              Also
              <meta name="description" content="[[*blog_description]]"/>
              generates an empty output.

              Any suggestions?

                Hello.

                I am not sure what kind of resources you are dealing with.
                But what you have should work just fine, unless I too am missing the obvious.
                In general, for this to work:
                <meta name="description" content="[[*blog_description]]" />

                Make sure the blog_desc TV is connected to the template you are using for that resource.
                The resource using the TV has content for that TV.
                The SPELLING of the TV is the same wherever used.
                Clear cache.

                  Clearing cache solved the problem.

                  Thanks!

                      There is a system setting to show the long title if that helps (I landed here after completely forgetting that).
