Is there some error logging in cloud, besides the one in manager?

I have imported a snapshot according to the instructions and the manager is working fine but i'm getting a 500 server error on the front. But i have no idea where to look for errors?

      Hi thapriest86,

I initially had the same kind of problem. There are log files in /log. Usually the one which I need to look at it error.log. Depending on when your cloud was created, you might need to sort on Last modified (because the clouds used to create files every hour).

      Hope this helps.

        Hi Tom,

That's just it, i can't see a folder or anything that says log.
        Where is yours exactly residing?

        • Using sftp, if you go above the www directory to /, there is a log directory with several log files.

          • This raises a somewhat related question. The nginx_access.log file there is over 42Mb. Is this a common, server-wide access file, or limited to this domain's activity? It's read-only for my sftp user, but really, a 42Mb log file?

Raises a question of my own, where do i find login information for SFTP or SSH?
According to https://modxcloud.com/userguide/using-modx-cloud/clouds/manage-your-clouds.html it should be under summary, but it is not.

Or does such an account only come with a paid plan? (for testing purposes i have now a laboratory plan) [ed. note: thapriest86 last edited this post 11 years, 2 months ago.]

To Susan's question, given the file's location, I'm pretty sure it would have to be domain specific, otherwise we'd all have access to each others logs, which I'm pretty sure wouldn't be a good idea.

To thapriest86, once you log into the dashboard, click on clouds, click on the name of the cloud in the links and then scroll to the bottom and you'll see a section entitled "SSH/SFTP CONNECTION INFORMATION". Hope this helps.

To be honest, I don't know. See the other post to see where I see my information. If it's not there, I'd imagine it's because it's a laboratory plan.

                    Hi Tom,

I really don't see that section, maybe it has to do something with having a laboratory plan?

                    See screenshot

                      Hi thapriest86,

It looks like you are correct; if it's not there, then my guess is that you don't have access. However, I've had questions and requests before and within the modxcloud dashboard, there may be a link to ask them. In my experience they've been great in terms of response time (i.e. usually within a day) and they may be able to shed some more light on things.

                      Regards,
                      Tom
