My problem started when i was having the manager bug (Non-Functional Menu & Blank Manager Pages). I disabled the css & js compression files and manually cleared the system cache. At that point I tried to login back into the manager to see if the issue was fixed but I couldn't login (wrong username/pw error). I logged into the database and manually changed the password field to 123456 (MD5) and tried again but same issue. Where should i go from here?

What browser? It is very possible that it was a stuck browser cache. Since you edited your password field you will need to fix it via the following linked method:

Be sure to clear the browser cache completely. Still having issues there is something else amiss.
