Hello,
I have a particular need for a CMS, explained below, and i was hoping the community would be able to tell me if MODX would help me achieve my goals either with the core installation or with available mods.
I am currently in need of a CMS to hold several of the same type of page, so it should preferably be able to have a page template that can be reused. Each page should have an application name, uploaded document files related to it, the servers in which these apps are running on, and support contacts related to that application (especially the contacts should be stored in a database since we reuse many of them and bind them to different of this application pages).
Also if possible, the search results need to display particular fields of those pages, being able to search by server/system, contacts, applications. (Preferable, not necessary)
And finally, it should be possible to edit each page and the related information directly on that page or link to the edit page from there, instead of using an admin panel (Only for these pages, templates and any other admin information can use an admin page). (Also preferable, not necessary)
Thank you very much reading and any help you can provide, i really appreciate it!
Nick.

MODx will certainly more than fulfill your requirements. There are a number of add-ons to support your needs, and an active and helpful community to help you put it all together.
Thank you very much for your reply Susan, would you mind if i ask you to point me in the right direction as to which mods could help me with my requirements?
I've seen several add-ons thorugh the main site, but i wouldn't really know what search terms to use for an add-on (if required) to be able to add elements to a DB to bind them to different pages, such as the contacts or server names that might be used for more than one application.
Thanks again!

Just remember, MODX is an open canvas that hands you a box full of paint. What you do to it is up to you and there are multiple ways to do similar functions.
I'm still new to it but I found I could embrace it in a matter of minutes rather than months. Every CMS has it's quirks or learning curves - you should find that this is definitely the way to go.

I'm afraid you'd have to be more specific about what you have in mind to get more specific ideas of how to implement it.
For starters, you might want to examine templates and template variables. In particular, if you want to have data from a custom table associated with each page, you will want MIGx, in its MIGXdb incarnation.

As far as editing from the front-end, you might find QuickBar useful. While it does actually lead into the appropriate Manager page, it does so from the front-end.

Also consider static resources and custom content types for your file downloads.
