FURLs causes only initial page to show regardless of URL

You said your site used to work before the use of FURL.
So clearly, "Container", "Searchable", "Rich Text", "Cacheable" and "Empty Cache" are optional details. You may uncheck or check them, that shouldn't produce a dead page

Maybe you activated FURL, fixed the .htaccess (NOT .txt) file, but where did you put this file?

I have Modx installed on a Win 7 Pro x64 computer, in c:\wamp\www\mysitefolder and I've put the .htaccess file in c:\wamp\www\. When I left work this evening I brought a copy of the site and the database home with me and set it up here on my home computer. Before I set up the .htaccess file I was getting a 404 error, once the .htaccess was set up - starting fresh and only changing the RewriteBase to /mysitefolder - I'm getting the same issue I first reported.

Place the .htaccess file in the folder --> c:\wamp\www\mysitefolder
c:\wamp\www\mysitefolder\.htaccess
c:\wamp\www\mysitefolder\assets
c:\wamp\www\mysitefolder\connectors
c:\wamp\www\mysitefolder\setup
c:\wamp\www\mysitefolder\manager

Are you using XAMPP? It has mod_rewrite off by default. MAMP may have something similar.
(and the .htaccess file should go in the MODX root -- get rid of the one above there).

xampp/apache/conf/httpd.conf

For the Mac, it’s this file:

Applications/xampp/etc/httpd.cnf

Make sure that the following two lines are uncommented (remove the semicolon at the beginning of the line):

LoadModule rewrite_module

modules/mod_rewrite.so

True, it was not working at all for me for a while, until I enabled rewrite_module using the WAMP Server icon's menu. But donshakespeare has hit upon the reason and everything is copacetic now.
