Redirect to login page when trying to save a resource

I'm hoping someone can advise on this issue as I'm stuck!

I set up a MODx site for my brother. As far as I know, nothing has changed on the site, but when he tried to update one of the pages via the manager today, he keeps getting redirected back to the login page when trying to save changes to the resource.

I have replicated this problem. I've cleared the cache and it still happens. I've also looked at the log in the tables, and there is nothing present, it just shows the user "editing document".

I would really appreciate some advice on where to look next for a solution.

Can this user do anything at all in the backend?

The same thing happens using both Firefox and IE.

When saving, the user is redirected back to the manager login page.

I have tested and this user can edit chunks.

I have also logged in using the administrator user, and have the same problem with being redirected back to the manager login when trying to save changes to a page.

As the administrator I'm also able to edit templates.

Having completed some more testing, it seems that users (including admin users) are unable to save changes to resources - on clicking save they are logged out and returned to the manager login screen.

Users are able to perform one other function (e.g. view the Help page, or edit and save a chunk), but then on trying to perform another action, are logged out.

Is the Administrator account a Sudo one?

I don't think so, I've been using the default administrator account which was set up with the installation.

I have the same issue in that a user and be login with no problem but if they save a Resource or Element they get logged out... The save does work but seems to end the user session, however, they dont get redirected to the login page. The user stays in the manager with 'Access Denied' on everything......

Very frustrating!!

This is for all user including Admin with Sudo...

We removed a custom PHP file from my server to resolve the problem - I had been using the file to turn PHP globals off, but this was now causing problems with MODx.
