Pages not changing/showing on menu click (wayfinder, friendly URLs)

Hello,

our site just stopped working. The front page shows up, and the wayfinder menu seems to work, since the friendly URLs change, when one clicks on a menu entry. But only the address line in the browser changes, not the site: it is always the front page that shows.

Here's our site - the strange behaviour is easier to see than to describe: http://www.exre.org/

I have no idea how to get the site to work normally. The reason for this behaviour is probably that the site got recently hacked. But after cleaning up the site, I got the described behaviour and have no idea how to get it back to working normally.

In the manager section, everything seems to be fine and is working okay.

I think, I found the problem: the index.php was corrupted. In fact, it was replaced by a html copy of the front page. No idea why the hacker did this, though...

Hey there I'm new and have a very similar problem but in my case i do not know how to link my html pages to a menu entry so whenever i click on a menu entry it only shows the home page but the link at the top does change ?

That would be to delay you from being aware that the site was compromised and delay the fix while the hackers software did something evil, like logging your keystrokes or dumping the DB to the hacker's machine.

Unless you've deleted the whole site, restored everything from a copy from before the hack, and changed all your passwords (MODX user, cPanel, DB, FTP, etc.), there's a good chance that your site is still compromised.

Make sure there's no index.htm file in the root of the site. If there isn't, you should probably start a new thread, since this one is about a site being hacked.
