    OS: Reportedly Unix (don't know flavour - MelbourneIt host)
    PHP Version 5.2.17
    MySql 5.1.50
    Trying to install MODX 2.2.6 w core outside webroot.

    Everything going to plan without any warnings or errors until the last step (action=complete). Then I get this error:

    Fatal error: Allowed memory size of 8388608 bytes exhausted (tried to allocate 19456 bytes) in /usr/home/wordsw/modxcore/model/smarty/sysplugins/smarty_internal_templateparser.php on line 2473

    I've tried uploading files again (in fact I tried three times) but to no avail. I can't figure out whats wrong. get the same error when trying the manager.

    Help!

      I think that this may be a server limitation.
      Try contacting your host and ask to increase the memory limit.

        fetchall,

        I`ll quote Jason Coward (Opengeek): "MODX Revolution requires a memory_limit of at least 16Mb, and we recommend 32M or more depending on the size of your site." from the following post: https://forums.modx.com/index.php?topic=64002.0

        You should increase your memory to at least 16M on your php.ini file if you access to it or ask for some assistance from your hosting company

          Ok... eating_humble_pie(now());

          I got tricked into a false sense of confidence by the success messages. You see somewhere in the setup steps there's this test with a big green tick:
          Checking if memory limit is set to at least 24M for zip extensions: OK! Set to 24M
          Either this is reporting wrongly or it is at least confusing. Nevertheless I should have checked the server myself before bothering you good people smiley
          It was indeed set to 8M - and after updating it to 64M the server is humming...

            Good stuff.

            I`m glad it worked for you.
