Hi there. I have and old clients website running on modx unchanged since 2005. (MODx version - 0.9, Version codename - rev 1005). Since then I have not been following what's up with ModX. Is it paid service now?

Anyway - an error has popped up:

    « MODx Parse Error »
MODx encountered the following error while attempting to parse the requested resource:
    « PHP Parse Error »

    PHP error debug
Error:	Cannot modify header information - headers already sent by (output started at /var/www/html/manager/includes/document.parser.class.inc.php:466)
      Error type/ Nr.:	Warning - 2
      File:	/var/www/html/manager/includes/document.parser.class.inc.php
      Line:	430
      Line 430 source:	 header($header);

    Php is 5.0.4.

Any ideas how can i solve this? Im a designer myself, not a developer, so no complicated coder slang, bitte schön wink
    Thanks.

There should be more to the error than that. All that means is that there is an error, and PHP has started to report the error itself, so MODx can't do the reporting without duplicating the headers.

I rather imagine the error is due to hosting upgrading the version of PHP, which does cause a few errors because of old, deprecated PHP functions.

MODx is not paid; both Evo (up to 1.0.8 now) and Revo (2.2.6 now) are still free. The MODx Cloud is just a specialized shared hosting service, it is not the MODx CMS.

You really should upgrade your MODx to Evo 1.0.8 since several security vulnerabilities have been patched since your version.

If you are not a developer, you might consider making an offer here to hire a developer with experience in upgrading very old MODX sites. Sometimes, the upgrade goes well, but sometimes it brings the site down and it takes someone with experience to restore it. The earlier you engage that person, the less time it will take to fix things.

BTW, I'm not angling for a job here. I don't do Evo upgrades, but there are some people here who are very good at it.

@BobRay - that's exactly what i was thinking about - there must be a lot of differences in the structure on the site.

Not really. The only thing I do when upgrading from such an old version is to avoid upgrading the included snippets, both in the assets/snippets folder and in the upgrade script. A few of them have changed over the years and use different properties. Some have backwards-compatibility, some don't. So I leave upgrading the snippets to a later time, when I can focus on changing any snippet calls I have to use the new properties. Actally, the only snippet that I've ever really had trouble with is AjaxSearch, and it displays a message letting you know exactly what the problem is so it's easy to change your snippet call.

@scottwell - the update went well, no snippets were changed and site seems to be fully functional.
This is really good, ModX proved itself to be solid in its structural design.
