Hi Guys,
Finally planing on moving to Revo.
Just made a quick install and love the polish on Revo but I found that the basics like tinymce, wayfinder, ditto and eform arnt there by default. And maybe a maxigallery equivalent?
Did I do something wrong? I did get an error on install something about the php setting for zip files not being long enough.
Or is there a way to put these snippets in the install files maybe along with some others like the settings for publish/cache and freindly urls by default?
Thanks in advance!
You didn't do anything wrong. Revolution is installed with nothing but a home page. No snippets or plugins. You can get and install them pretty easily in Package Manager. The idea was to not load the site down with components that the user might not need or want.
It's possible to create a transport package containing the extras you want, but then you'd still have to install them in Package Manager and you'd lose the ability have available updates for them appear automatically in Package Manager (unless you create a very sophisticated transport package -- it can be done, but it's not simple).
Thanks BobRay! Do you think its worth moving to Revo? It looks cleaner which clients would love. I just like Evo how most of my settings were ready to go.
Absolutely. The Manager is a little slower, but there are a ton of really nice features that make you more productive and the underlying architecture is far superior to Evo's. The only real down side is that setting user permissions is much more complicated.

Revo has an installer; System -> Package Manager.

There are a handful of packages I tend to install right away -
- CodeMirror - for editing elements
- TinyMCE - for editing resources
- Wayfinder - for menus
- getResources - for lists (replaces Ditto)
- FormIt - for processing forms (replaces EForm)
- SimpleSearch - or AdvancedSearch, depending on my needs
- MIGx - for custom TVs
Gallery is the most commonly used gallery add-on.
Beware the user management system! It bites.
All of these have
documentation in the rtfm (bookmark this!), with some good docs to be found at
Bob's Guides and
Mary's Coding Pad.
There are two excellent Revo books out,
one by BobRay and one by
W. Shaun Wilkerson.
