News with picture

Can someone write detailed instructions how to create news system with picture.
I need one small picture for teaser and one/two big ones for detailed news page.

Soemthing like this:
http://www.automobili.be/index.php if you press link "Detaljnije" (red on right side) you get full doc with pictures...

I have tried to search forum, found few manuals, but without success (even http://wiki.modxcms.com/index.php/Howto_catalogue doesn’t work for me)
Please help.

I will take a look at all your links but I’m not sure how to create 2 image TVs and how to connect those to my template...

I’m totally confused now...

I know what TVs are, I’m aware of strength of the TVs and I know why to use TVs, but I have problems with implementing TVs.

So, I have created new TV:

Variable Name: color
Caption: [*color*]
Description: select a text color
Input Type: DropDown List Menu
Input Option Values: Red==#FF0000||Green==#00FF00||Blue==#0000FF

Template Access: crveni_novi_srpski

Saved.

Now, I have tried to put [*color*] TV
- directly in template (tempalte is "crevni_novi_srpski" like I have checked in TV creation) after [*content*]
- directly into page (after editing page, in html)
- in NewsListingTemplate chunk which I’m using to format form for insert new news article

but nothing happens, not any change...nothing

So, where I am wrong?

Do you know if MaxiGallery or another snippet can be combined with Ditto so that the thumbnail image is automatically generated/re-sized? I’m basically looking to create a blog format where the poster can attach one image to their post and have a thumnail version show with the post excerpt on the homepage. Is that possible?

Use TVs: e.g. 2 image TVs (thumbnail, big image), plus as many text-fields as you need.

Tip: There’s a useful plugin for documents that contain lots of template variables: http://www.modxcms.com/Hide-Editor-1410.html
It’s hiding the large content-area if it’s not needed, so you don’t have to scroll down to reach the TV fields.

Just to add, when I edit document, at the bottom I see:

Template Variables:
[*color*] dropdown list with colors

So, as I can see, TV engine working fine, but I don’t know how to put it in document.

STOP...There was no error at all...
I didn’t realized that I need to put default value if I want to see anything without setting value by hand.
Now, I will try to go further into my news with image problem.
