    Hello to all smiley

I have a few question before I start to develop more advance stuff in MODx.

    so...,
can MODx handle more advance structures of pages and folder, like this:

    - Main_folder_1
    - sub_folder
    _doc_1
    _doc_2
    _doc_3
    _......
    - sub_folder #2
    _doc_1
    _doc_2
    _....
    _ sub_folder #3
    _ ....
    - Main_folder_#2
    - ....
    - ....
    - ....
    //
    - sum of sub_folders will be 24.000+
    - sum of Main_folders will be 10+
    - sum of _docs_## will be over 100.000+

can I in MODx create CP user access only to specific sub_folders (/Main_folder/sub_folder_#3), different users will have CP access to different sub_folders or some users to Main_folder.
also I need access in Control Panel just to specific doc.

is MODx suitable for large traffic site?

how "siteCache.idx.php" will handle large site, and pages?

Well, this has been discussed time and again and you’re right, siteCache.idx.php will grow with the number of documents and it will become a bottleneck. Loading the tree will also be an issue. The current reasonnable limit for MODx is evaluated at 5000 documents (more info here).

With 0.9.7, the cache mechanism is a bit different, since it’s tied to the notion of context, let me quote the roadmap :

Contexts – This new concept will allow MODx configuration settings to be overridden, extended, isolated, or shared across domains, sub-domains, sub-sites, multi-sites, cultural-specific sections, specific web applications, etc.

      (....)

Improved caching – New core and partial-page caching techniques help reduce overall cache file-size as well as server resource loads on cache directories by organizing cache files into a hierarchical folder structure.

This will help but from what I understand, no matter what with such high document count, if you want to use MODx you’ll have to go for a custom MySQL table and go for a custom dev... I guess that with xPDO powering 0.9.7, this could be made a lot easier to do ! But I’ll let those who know explain that part tongue
