I might be wrong here, but after looking through the SimpleSearch class file (after some time trying to use the functionality), it doesn't appear that the fieldPotency option exists.

I did a quick search in the forums and found at least a couple of people wondering about this. I think it would be a service to the community if this deadend got axed from the documentation.

For now, I'm off to try AdvSearch...hope this helps.

It's definitely in the code; in the sortResults() function at line 109 of core/components/simplesearch/model/simplesearch/driver/simplesearchdriver.class.php

Move to strike! My bad...looks right. I should have been more thorough. I was looking at the last Git update for the addition and it was in the simplesearch class file...not this driver file.

That said, it doesn't help remedy my problem which is the fieldPotency doesn't seem to function properly. For instance, weighting the introtext field high and populating and arbitrary resource with a know term doesn't float the resource to the top of the list. I'll keep trying but if anyone can speak to this, I'd appreciate it.

Again, sorry for the false accusation! smiley
