Which file structure for a multidomain setup

Hi,
I am searching for the best filestructure for a multidomain setup.
There shall be, lets say 3 domains:
modx.domain.com
site1.domain.com
site2.domain.com

I used to structure them this way:
```
/domain.com/
  + modx/
    + manager/
    + core/
  + site1/
    + assets/
  + site2/
    + assets/
```
With this I ran into media manager trouble with showing file previews. Paths were fine, but the previews don't show up.

Would it be better to use a structure like this:
```
/domain.com/
  + manager/
  + core/
  + websites/
    + site1/
      + assets/
    + site2/
      + assets/
```
Or are there other and better ways to organize the files?
I have allready done some multiply domains setups, so "running them with MODX" is not the problem. But I still wonder which is the best way to organize them.
How do you folks do it?

I'm doing it like your 2nd example, call the websites/ folder addomains/ and put all the subdomains, other domains etc. in there...but I'm really not sure if the folder structure is the cause of your preview problems in the manager...I would more think of some kind of path & phpThumb problem...I guess you set up the different sites via context, so be sure to 1. have a media source set for each context and 2. to adjust phpthumb paths via context settings if necessary...
