How do I set one of my sub pages listed in the main menu (drop down list) to open in a new window? In the general documents setting I have entered target="_blank" in the Link Attributes field but it still opens in the same window. Is this incorrect?
It is a simple .jpg file with no template around it so I don’t want web users to have to use browser back button to get back to the main site.

    Thank you.

Maybe you can post the actual code of the link, so we can have a look if it’s composed correctly?

In the main menu of the site I am working on, mouse over "Company" and the submenu selection "Insurance" is the page I’d like to open in a new window.

        Site (under construction): http://www.metrofoundationrepair.com/about-metro-foundation-repair.html

The Link Attributes field is located in the manager under the "General" document settings and this is what I have for it:

The link in your page source is lacking the target="_blank", but as it looks you’re inserting it correctly. Are we seeing a cached version of the page (try emptying the site cache), or do you use something to construct your navigation menues that is stripping off the attribute?

            Hi,

I just emptied cache and forced a refresh on the page and it still does not open in a new window. The image is a screen capture of exactly how the settings are saved as.

            As far as your question:

do you use something to construct your navigation menues that is stripping off the attribute?

I do not know. I am basically using the demo template with edited graphics until I get my site content up and ready.

Well, looking into your page source again, I find this:

              <a href="http://www.metrofoundationrepair.com/coi.jpg target="_blank"" title="Certificate of Insurance">

target="_blank" is now there (so I assuming it was a caching issue), but it’s followed by a single quote that doesn’t belong there, that’s why it still doesn’t work.

I tried putting the target="_blank" attribute directly into the "Weblink" field (which didn’t work). That could have been when you viewed page source but other than that I’ve tried every way I could think of for implementing that attribute into the link and I just can’t figure out how.

Now the link looks correctly in the source, and it opens a new window in my browser. So my guess now is that you did not reload the page yet, or that your browser is configured in a way to not open links in new windows.

Okay, those who can read have clearly an advantage sad ...

How do I set one of my sub pages listed in the main menu (drop down list) to open in a new window?

Sorry, I was constantly looking at the link in the content area for "Insurance"! The link in the main menu has indeed no target="_blank".

Personally, I would be rather irritated when a link in the navigation opens a new window. But I also have no idea how to get the attribute there.

... okay, but here is the solution: add the placeholder [+wf.attributes+] to the inner Row template for wayfinder, like this:

                      <li[+wf.classes+]><a href="[+wf.link+]" title="[+wf.title+]" [+wf.attributes+]>[+wf.linktext+]</a>[+wf.wrapper+]</li>

(look for the chunk "mh.InnerRowTpl" if you use the default install)
