So I've been testing a couple editors, Ace and Codemirror, and got them working fine, except I don't see a way to get resource TVs to work with them. I see tGeSHi and maybe more promising this one: http://modx.com/extras/package/managercodehighlighter which lists pretty much everything, except TVs. It also looks very dated.

What do you guys use? Is there one solution that works for everything? The PHP is less important for me but I'd like it to work for css files, chunks and TVs. It'd be nice to have features like Ace does but not overly necessary.

    Thoughts? Suggestions?

    Thanks

Ah I see now that tGeSHi and a few others are for displaying colored code to a published resource, not backend. So that's not what I'm looking for.

I see a feature request made 2 months ago to add Codemirror to TV's. Must be not possible at this time.

There is the feature proposal for Ace: https://github.com/danyaPostfactum/modx-ace/pull/9
Looks like this feature is required and could be useful for you and others. I'll try to add this into the next Ace release (I guess within a day)

          Thanks very much danya.

If it could be tied in to replace the RTE that'd be great. Or even on the Text Area TVs. I think it would be most useful if there was a way to set select TVs to use Ace and others TinyMCE. That way could separate end user variables from developer ones.

I suspect you might be able to set the which_editor and which_element_editor in the user's Settings to have them override the system settings.

That's a good point. Can that be done for an entire Group as well?

Ya that is off topic, but been looking for the answer to that one for a while. I know how to do it per user, just didn't occur to me as I wrote my post.

Hm. As far as I know, there is no "settings" for groups. There should be. A good feature request, no?

I wasn't sure if I couldn't find it meant it didn't exist or I just hadn't looked in the right place yet.
