I am currently developing a MODx site inside a subdirectory on a live website. When I’m finished working on MODx, I’d like to move it from its current residence up to the top directory of the host domain.

How would I go about that? I imagine it would be easy, but I’d like to know for sure before I get too far in development.

    Thanks!

First, make sure that all of your links (images, files, etc) are relative. Then back up your site. Then simply move the MODx files/folders to the root directory. Check the Configuration for fields that have paths and URLs, especially the File Manager tab. You’ll also need to edit your .htaccess file, if you set it up for URL rewriting for friendly URLs. Keep in mind that any index.html/index.htm files you may have in your root will most likely preempt the index.php file MODx uses.
