Show menu in template

Thanx for give me support,

i want to discuss with you one thing also, plz have a look on this template http://modxd.com/new1-template.html

you can see at right side there are news part avilable..i want to apply some thing like that in my website,it can be news or it can be testimonials etc ..

So i want to know how can i manage paticluarc category from back-nd..? and also how can i get that category post in front-nd ..?

can i have done that functionallty through with simple modx functions ..? means to say without any plugin or package..?

There are several ways you can do this.

You can use resources. Create a new Resource "News". Then use it as a container for the individual news articles. Use the getResources package to display the news items; it works much like Wayfinder only for a different purpose. Then there is the getPages packages, which is a wrapper for getResources to set up paging when you have a lot of articles listed. There is also Quip, which is for adding commenting to your articles. Archivist is another package that makes archive listings for older articles.

There is a blogging package called Articles that bundles all this together plus a lot more features, but I'm not sure if you can install it at all without cURL, since it also automatically installs several other packages that it uses, including getResources and Quip.

As we use wordpress in that we can create one news category after that on front-nd we can get the all post's for the that paticular category.. with the uses of wordpress functions right ..?

I am new in modx so i have did nt have lots of knowledge abt modx..

As same i m asking you can i have done something like that type of functionally in modx,so can manage easily news from backed ..? if is it possible so kindly plz let me knw how can i do that in mod x ..?


And kindly tell me which code i have written at following ..? this code is used for which purpose..? "ditt" this functions is used for what ..?

You don't want to use Ditto, that's for Evolution. Use getResources. It's somewhat similar, but developed for Revo.

[[getResources? &parents=`1`]] if your home page is the parent for your news article pages. &parents works like the startId for Wayfinder, only you can have more than one "parent", such as &parents=`1,2,3` to list all the children of resources 1, 2 and 3.

i want to show the latest first three news and testimonials at right side of my website.. so can some one tell me how can i manage this part form front-nd to back-nd..?
