Custom Resources and Lexicons

Translations is not abandoned! It's just slightly under-loved at the moment. I fully intend to continue developing it (but, same old excuse, need to find the time!!)

The 'page not saving' bug should be a quick fix, the main reason I haven't worked on it recently is I'm struggling to come up with an efficient way of serving up language-specific URLs. At present (when the can't save bug isn't there - it seems to pop up randomly on some installs but not on others) but it is 100% NOT SEO FRIENDLY - there is only one URL to each resource and so search engines will only ever pick up the base resource language.

I had planned to use the modx PageNotFound system event to look up language-specific urls, but I'm worried that querying all translated resources for every resource could turn out somewhat costly in terms of response time. Has anybody done any work extending the makeUrl / alias map classes?

If there is still community interest I can definitely get Translations back up and running again...

I'm not much of an expert on URL transformations, but it seems like you could do it with .htaccess rewrites and site_url Context Settings. MODX is already using the .htaccess equivalent of "page not found" to route page requests and that's very fast.
