[solved] Cannot access setup folder after update (2.2.4pl to 2.2.6pl upgrade)

So today I decided to upgrade a modx website running 2.2.4pl to 2.2.6pl.
(disclaimer: this is not the first time this website is updated - no issues before)

Here is what I did:
- in modx manager: emptied cache and flush all sessions
- logged via SSH to my webhost
- backed-up files and db
- downloaded the latest modx (2.2.6pl) using wget
- unzipped it
- copy over the new files
- went to mysite.com/setup
- and...

got my error page !?!? (page that displayed when webpage is incorrect)


I checked to make sure the setup folder was created (and it was)
But no matter what, I cannot display the setup.
It is like the setup folder doesn't exist.

I tried different web browsers, making sure the cache is emptied.

I even removed the setup folder and created an empty one.
In this case I can go to mysite.com/setup
But as soon as I copy the files from the 2.2.6pl, I cannot access the setup folder (I'm redirected to my error page)

I'm a bit puzzled...
Any advices?

I got things working though.
It was all to do with files and folders permissions.
I had to set all files to 644 and all folders to 755.

Anything else less restrictive (like 664 or 775) would not work.
I believe this is the way my host has its permissions setup (?)

Yes, in many cases servers configured to use CGI/FastCGI with suexec or some other suexec method (such as the su_php Apache module) are configured to require 755 and 644 permissions. This can vary wildly from host to host. I had one client on a server that required any file with "config" in its name to be set to 600!
