I've noticed this behavior recently:
Navigating to Reports --> Error Log (manager/index.php?a=66) sometimes ends up with a white screen. The log is only 533kb in size -- which isn't small, but it's not ridiculously huge. There are LOTS of phpThumb errors in the logs, but I've seen that on many sites (why so many errors???). But that does not explain the white-screens. Deleting PART (not all) of the log does make the white-screen go away, but that doesn't tell me if the problem was due to the size of the log or its contents.
Anyone else run into this?

Not specifically, but I've had whitescreen issues on other areas of MODx that were fixed by disabling js compression in system settings. May not be related though.
I occasionally see a blank console using Chrome, especially after using Package Manager. I've found that reloading the page before doing something that uses the console will always prevent it. I'm curious if that will work for your problem.
I suspect that it has something to do with Chrome's JS cache.
Clearing the cache in the Manager help (and often leads to its own blank console).
