    Hi to all!
I have some issue during MODx Revo installation. On stage of connection to database, after input MySQL hostname, login, password and click on "Test database server connection and view collations", nothing happens (exept sintax error in /setup/assets/js/ext-core.js)

It's seems to be a famous dull bug, but I find some more interesting.
Respond on POST request from setup page is empty! I think that something bad happens in php scripts, but have no guess about what broken.

    Server log looks like this:
[notice] SIGUSR1 received. Doing graceful restart
[error] VirtualHost MY.IP.ADDRESS:0 -- mixing * ports and non-* ports with a NameVirtualHost address is not supported, proceeding with undefined results
[error] Failed to resolve server name for MY.IP.ADDRESS (check DNS) -- or specify an explicit ServerName
[notice] Apache/1.3.42 (Unix) PHP/5.3.13 configured -- resuming normal operations
[notice] Accept mutex: flock (Default: flock)

after each my attempt to connect to MySQL server.

    MODx Revo 2.2.6
    PHP 5.3
    MySQL 5.1.41, encoding UTF-8

Refresh /setup/assets/js/ext-core.js or whole /setup folder not help, recreate database not help.
    Does anybody help me?

According to your hosting information, what is the server for accessing the database?

        Hi sottwell!

Well, that is your problem. You aren't specifying the server to connect to correctly. Get that right, and you shouldn't have any further problems.

The sorce of problem is SQL server name with "-" character, is it?
The name should be something like a geonlab.mysql?

No. That's database name. Server name, when in the Installation, is by default set to "localhost". That is how most hosting is set up. If you have a different server, then you need to put in the correct server in that field. For example, I have one site whose database server is "mysql.domain.com" instead of "localhost".

There are three things you need to know to connect to a database server.

              • The server
              • Your username
              • Your password

Shared hosting database servers can be managing hundreds of databases.

After you connect to the database server, then you need to know the name of the database you want to use and its character set and collation settings. Plus the user you connected with has to have permissions to access and work with the database. But until you actually connect to the database server in the first place, those are not relevant.

May be it sound strange, but my hosting database server name is "geon-lab.mysql", database name is "geon-lab_db". I can use phpMyAdmin to connect to database server and edit tables in database whith this server/database names. Phpmyadmin working on the exact virtual host, that used by me to install MODx, but MODx falls.
PhpMyAdmin used mysqli module, whereas MODx used PDO to connect to database. Is anybody can help me to test database connection through PDO? My phping skills too low for make it myself.

You may just have a corrupted or missing file in your MODX install. It's fairly common if you transfer the files individually with FTP.

                      Hi! I solve this problem!
Suddenly, old mysql PHP module required by modx revo installer, in addition to pdo_mysql.
I simple enable this module - and everything work.
