Something to activate in your FireFox and inform your clients about it too.
When plugins.click_to_play in FireFox is enabled, plugins will require an extra click to activate and start “playing” content.

Why this would give you and your clients more protection ?
We'll the number of drive by malware exploits is increasing.
When plugins.click_to_play is enabled, plugins will require an extra click to activate and start Java- or Flash-content running a script without the user knowing about it, such as drive-by malware exploits.
This is an incremental step towards securing yourself and your clients.
(and reducing a bit unneccessary memory usage)

How can I enable the Click-to-Play option ?
a) In the internet address bar enter the following: about:config
b) Click on the button: I'll be careful, I promise!
c) In about:config, filter on plugins.click_to_play
d) You will see the boolean value is false
e) Double click on plugins.click_to_play and it will be enabled.

If you are visiting a site and want to see what permissions you have granted for that site you can right click on the page and go to Page Info -> Permissions tab.
Or go in the menu bar to Tools - Page Info - Permissions
You can see all of them on one page by going to about:permissions.

You could go even one step further and make your own white list.
With site-specific permissions, users can whitelist sites that they visit often and trust. Sites that are whitelisted will activate plugins automatically upon load.
