    Hi there,
let's say I have 4 teams and want to show the people inside each team. Normally I would have to make 4 gR calls, selecting the team I want to see within each gR call. Or did I miss something?

Is it possible to use a TV as a grouping item? Like groupBy='team'?

    cheers
    Oliver

      Hi Oliver,

Yes this is more than possible, but I'm not on my computer now to give you the code ( need to have a look at a site I've just done ), will they only be grouped by one tv or are you looking for multiple groups ?, also are these to be displayed on one age and filtered or one page per TV ?

Aaaah, glad you said that! Cool! Thanks!
For the moment a simple group TV would be enough, but it cannot hurt how to dive deeper into a result structure, because I want to minimize the number of gR calls as much as possible.

The output, for know, would be on one single page, like an orderded list or a headline/div thing.

Maybe this "team example" was not the best. Think of a cinema schedule, grouped by days – and maybe films? Yes, multiple goups would definitely be awesome!

          Hi Paulp,
did you find that piece of code? I still wonder, how you did the gR magic. ;-)
          Thanks
          Oliver

            Hi Oliver,

Thanks for the PM, completely missed this one, are you wanting to show them as in:

            Team 1

            1st player
            2nd player

            Team 2

            1st player
            2nd player

            Etc

Or would the example I showed you filtered be ok, IE click here to view team 1, here for team 2 etc, or just the page with a jquery filter like the example ?

Also how have you structured this in the tree ?

            Cheers

Yes, Paul, like you wrote, all on one single page:
              Group A
              - member 1
              - member 2
              - member 3
              Group B
              - member 4
              - member 4
              Group C
              ...
All members reside in the same folder. Each member has a TV that is used for the grouping.

              Example: http://www.koelner-kino-naechte.de/2012/programm/
I did this with 4 gR calls for the 4 dates and was wondering if it could be done with a single gR call, grouping the output by the date of the screening.

And I am looking for an "all internal" solution with MODX, so there shouldn't be any jQuery or other JS involved. Just one gR call with some sort of groupBy-TV and a sortBy-TV for the inner group sorting. Each group should start with some sort of groupHeaderTpl (for displaying "Group A", "Group B",... just like in the example.

Tricky? [ed. note: mindeffects last edited this post 13 years, 8 months ago.]
