    Hi all,
I've just encountered an absurd issue with MODx v2+. Wait for it, you'll laugh...
Basically I had a problem with a text that caused MODx to hang and not save the resource. What I narrowed it down to is that having the exact phrase "drop seamlessly into your" will not save your copy. Changing it to whatever else (eg. "dropS seamlessly into your") will work just fine though.
Don't believe me? Try it! smiley
    Have fun!

      Hey Marius,

Could you elaborate on this some? Is this in the Content Field or other field? Do you have TinyMCE installed and active? Is this text copied from another application?

Look forward to helping you resolve.

      Cheers,

      Jay

Hi, I tried it, but in my case it saves correctly smiley
Maybe it depends on the mod_security?

          Hi guys,

The text is not copied from another application (ie. MS Word) but it is typed into the content box. Yes, I have Tiny MCE installed but I always use the HTML code ("toggle editor" option) for any text change. I've tried this on versions 2.1.3, 2.2.4 and 2.4 and each time I had that exact phrase in MODx wouldn't save. It would just hang and display the "loading" box.

What I find funny is that this behaviour occurred on different servers not just different MODx versions and I found no logic in it. Don't really know if it's actually MODx or Tiny MCE but it's really weird...

There is nothing special about the scenario, I would just type in "drop seamlessly into your" (with or without previous text) and click save. And it happens...

"Hope" this happened to someone else as I am not looking for any "special" attention on this forum. Anyway, hope you'll sort this.

          Cheers

            Hi Marius,
it may be that some servers have the mod_security enabled, do you have the chance to check this feature with your hosting?

I think the word "drop" can cause this behaviour..

As Tillilab has stated, this is almost certainly mod_security and you will need to speak to your hosts to sort it out.

I wrote up some info about how to configure Mod_Security and disable some of the rules for certain URLs: http://rtfm.modx.com/display/revolution20/Installation+on+a+server+running+ModSecurity
