@MODx team: Please add PHP5.4 support to next update.

Sorry, that I post it here, but I did not find an option in the bug tracker to vote on this issue.

Hosts like 1&1 (Germany and probably the U.S. subsidiary, also) are dropping or are bout to drop the support for PHP 5.3 and lower.

The changes (http://setpro.pl/software/modx-evo-and-php-5.4) to make MODx Evo. working with PHP 5.4 on those hosts are affecting files, which may be overwritten when updating MODx.

Thank you MODx team for taking care of security issues in a timely manner. But I would really appreciate if you would also solve this compatibility issue with one of the next MODx updates. It appears that it can be applied, quickly. Please have a look at this, again.

Agreed but bugs are not being fixed so I can't see it happening sadly. I'm sure I read that it is now up to the MODx community to carry out any improvements.

Perhaps ClipperCMS offers, or will offer, 5.4 compatibility but as it's working outside MODx it will struggle to compete with established CMS, especially those that haven't stood still for two and a half years.

Really bad to hear that. I like Evo more than Revo. Revo's back-end is too slow and many hosts have issues with it. Evo is fast and works pretty much everywhere. Most of my projects do not need the additional features of Revo.

Having now looked at http://www.clippercms.com/ Github development page more closely, it does appear they have addressed the issue of PHP 5.4 but whether that is available in the current stable release I don't know.

My preference is also for Evo over Revo partly for the reasons you give. Unfortunately I migrated my sites to Evo without realising development would be abandoned shortly afterwards. I now use one of the big three CMSs for my new sites as they are future proof as any.
