    Hi,

I've installed Articles: http://modx.com/extras/package/articles on MODX Revolution 2.2.6-pl (traditional).

At first the site was accessed via a folder within the parent domain. www.parent.com/sites/mysite
Today I put the site live and enabled mod_rewrite in .htaccess and friendly urls in MODX. Changed the paths inside core/config/config.inc.php, and everything is working perfectly, except for the blog. I get this:

    Apache/2.2.22 (Unix) mod_ssl/2.2.22 OpenSSL/1.0.0-fips mod_auth_passthrough/2.1 mod_bwlimited/1.4 FrontPage/5.0.2.2635 Server at www.my-actual-site.com Port 80

This is my htaccess file. Everything else is commented out, just like itcomes from the installation.

    RewriteEngine On
    RewriteBase /

    RewriteCond %{HTTP_HOST} .
    RewriteCond %{HTTP_HOST} !^www\.my-actual-site\.com [NC]
    RewriteRule (.*) http://www.my-actual-site.com/$1 [R=301,L]

This only affects the blog's main page. The subpages (blog posts) work.
Also, with friendly URLs OFF, the blog's main page works properly too.

I have previously used Articles on a MODX site, and it worked perfectly (granted, I have installed articles AFTER the site was live).
Maybe I had to change some settings somewhere specifically for Articles?
The only other thing is, when I'm comparing the settings on the older (working) installation of MODX there's a difference:
The new installation has this extra option under Friendly URL in system settings, because of the new version of MODX.

"Use Strict Friendly URLs friendly_urls_strict No Jan 28, 2013 09:42 AM"

I have tried with that on and off. Also, I've tried uninstalling everything about "Articles" and reinstalling. The problem doesn't go away.
Can anybody thing of any reason for this behaviour?

Any help or ideas would be greatly appreciated.
    Thank you!

I'm not sure if I'm reading this correct, as I'm uncertain how the other sub-pages would work, but if you have MODX installed in a sub-directory, (such as www.parent.com/sites/mysite), you would need to set RewriteBase in your htaccess.

      Change this:
      RewriteBase /

      To this
      RewriteBase /sites/mysite/

Hope this helps point you in the right direction.

        Hi Garret,

The site is set up as an addon domain, so "RewriteBase /" works for me. If I change it to "RewriteBase /sites/mysite/" it breaks everything.
The site itself works, and the blog pages work perfectly with SEF urls The only problem is with the blog "home" page. That's what's killing me.

I think you need to search through the file system and the database for any reference to the wrong URL. Articles has a very nasty habit of leaving bits and pieces of itself in odd corners, even if you try to completely delete it. It's possible that the problem is in the row in the site_content field for the Articles resource itself. Or it may be something in a setting somewhere.

Ahh, so it's being treated as an actual domain, and not a sub-directory to the domain. That was my confusion.

This message is what is typically displayed at the bottom of a public folder. Is it possible that you have an empty directory in your installation folder's root with the same name as the blog homepage's URL alias? (e.g. The alias is set to "blog" and there is a folder named "blog" in the main directory)

If reinstalling the Articles add-on doesn't fix it, then it's most likely in your core files. You mentioned you altered the paths in the core/config/config.php. Was there a specific reason to modify the file rather than creating a fresh install and just importing a database backup?

If you can, try installing a fresh copy of MODX with a fresh install of the Articles add-on (and nothing else) at a different location to see if you run into the same problem.

              Hi Susan.

Thank you for your reply. I've spent almost the whole day yesterday uninstalling and reinstalling and deleting whatever traces I could find! Nothing :|

Now I checked the forum again and Garret suggested something that I thought I've already tried yesterday
. Is it possible that you have an empty directory in your installation folder's root with the same name as the blog homepage's URL alias?

Damn....a big empty blog folder in my root installation smiley)) I could have sweared I checked for that. Many many many many many thanks for helping guys! I hope I can return the favor one day.

              Best,
              C
