Answered Missing Items from Elements Tree

MODX 2.2.6-pl-traditional

I was organizing my chunks in Category folders. After doing so, I refreshed the page and now, about 80% of my chunks are gone - missing! I can't find the folder I created (the one where I was putting the chunks in), nor can I find most of the other chunks and category folders.

The weird thing is that the site is still loading these chunks without a problem, so they're not gone, they're just missing from the tree, which is a huge problem because I need to edit those chunks and work with them.

This is quite urgent. Please help.

Resolved. For future reference:

The categories I had created were somehow added in a parent category. I went in the DB and changed those categories' parents back to 0 (the root). Now they're up again.

Were they assigned to a non-existent category, or were you just not looking for them under their category?

Well, that's the weird thing: I created a category and put some chunks in it. Then when I refreshed, the category folder (along with some other category folders that I hadn't touched) were given a parent id in the DB, and were not displaying in the Elements Tree. Weird, hu?

Yes, but was the parent ID the categories were assigned the ID of an actual, existing category?

In that case, you could have seen them if you had expanded the parent category in the tree (which it makes sense that you wouldn't think to do since you didn't know they were there).
