So I cannot use any versions of Revo from 2.1.3 onwards. I believe it is because my server is running an old version of PHP. the install doesnt work properly and wont unzip any of the zipped files. I get the error:

The install failed because MODX could not unpack the
/public_html/core/packages/core.transport.zip package. Make sure that the
/public_html/core/packages/core.transport.zip file exists and is writable, and that you have made the
    /public_html/core/packages/ directory writable.

Does any one know of a work around for this?

Thanks [ed. note: meltingdog last edited this post 11 years, 3 months ago.]
    • Sounds more like a permissions problem. Are those files and directories writable? Does your PHP have the zip libraries installed and available?

        Hi,

Yep they are writable. Im not sure about the PHP - I cannot access it to update.
        • I once successfully installed Revo using a third-party zip library. I had to include the zip library in the installer index.php file; it was not easy.

You could get around this by installing elsewhere, then moving the installed site, but you'll always have problems with it. You'd have to install any packages elsewhere, then move the appropriate files as well as updating the database.

I'd say it's not worth it. It will always be falling over at the most awkward moment possible, and there's no way to tell what other problems the server configuration is going to cause.

There's a system setting to use an alternate zip method, but I can't remember what it is and I'm not sure there's a way to use it during Setup, but there might be.
