question: getTVValue() throwing E_NOTICE errors

I have a plugin extra with multiple getTVValue() calls. Most, if not all of them, are putting "unserialize()" failure warnings in the MODX error log on every page load when E_NOTICE is on (MODX 2.2.6).

It's easy enough to stop this with error_reporting(), but I'm wondering if something is wrong with my TVs or if there's some other method I should be using to avoid the messages for people whose hosts have E_NOTICE turned on.

I don't understand why unserialize is being called in the first place, since they're all plain text or Yes/No TVs being asked for by name, and I'm only asking for the raw value of the TV.

What are the details of the error? What kind of TV's?

FWIW, modResource->getTVValue() returns the fully processed output of the TV, not the raw value; it uses modTemplateVar->renderOutput().

I used to know that, but forgot.

They are strictly text and yes/no TVs, but things have just gotten extremely weird. I'm now getting that same error in the Manager when I try to edit them and Quick Edit fails silently.

This is only happening with the TVs for a particular extra (of mine), so there must be something wrong with the way they're being created.

[Update]I think I see what it is. In the 'properties' field the problem TVs have array() instead of a:0:{}

The extra is at least a year old and has always worked fine. I've had E_NOTICE on in my development environment for a long time, but I must have released the extra before it got turned on.

Never mind.

BTW, is one of these preferred in a transport file?

The properties should always be an array.

Makes sense, though I think they may be automatically converted to an array if they're empty.
