I recently had occasion to make use of these properties. They were not documented; I found them in the advsearchform.class.php file. They are documented now.
Why would I need to use these properties to stop AdvSearch from loading the .js and .css files?
There were two reasons. The first was that I'm using a very customized search field in my template's head, and had no use for the default .css file since the styling for this customized field is handled in my site's .css file. This particular template is already loading more than enough extra files.
The second reason was much more problematic. I have a few pages in the site that use JQuery UI tabs. Unfortunately the latest (9.0.x) versions of JQuery UI have a rather nasty bug that makes it impossible to use a <base href=...> tag since it ends up loading the whole page into the tab content area. That means that all href and src URLs for images, .js and .css files have to be absolute. But AdvSearch loads its .css and .js file relative (as indeed it should). In turn, this means I need to manually add the script tags and link tags in my templates to have the absolute URLs.
Since I only needed to do this for a very few pages, I duplicated my main template, modified the duplicate, and have those few pages set to use the duplicate template. Now when/if JQuery UI ever gets that bug fixed (actually this is a regression; the same bug was fixed several years ago in a previous version), all I need to do is reset the template on those few pages.
