    Hi,

I have a question... I've searched the forum and wikis and still have questions so I'm posting it here.

Has anyone got Modx to successfully work with lighttpd and friendly urls (furls) as well? I'm reading on the wiki here...

    http://wiki.modxcms.com/index.php/Friendly_URLs_on_lighttpd

And there is a suggested fix, some discussion on it, and it's all from 2009.

Is there anything recent? Any ideas or help or pointing me in the right direction? Has anyone got this to work?

    Greg

@sottwell Thank you, I saw that before but must have closed my tab and been working off the old wiki.

NASTY GLITCH - I followed the instructions, everything seemed to work well but then I ran up against something that stumped me for a while.

Whenever I would try to select a TV under the Elements Tab, it would redirect me to some random page on my website instead of letting me edit it. This is super not cool because I would like to be able to edit my TV's, not just have them sit there. Quick edit works, but click and bring up the full page (where I can set access permissions too) doesn't work at all.

After some investigation, I found out the cause... or what is making the problems.

It would seem that if you have a TV or Chunk or *any* element in a Category, you can no longer click to edit that. Yes - if it's in a category your TV has become inaccessible.

I worked around this by deleting all my categories 8-| not the fix I hoped for but at least the site isn't crippled... I don't know a hell of a lot about Modx (just learning how to use it), but does anyone have an idea why this might be happening?

That is indeed very odd. I don't see where categories has any influence on the URL for editing a resource. Besides, if you followed the example in the link above, rewrites are disabled for the manager altogether.

Are you sure this is unique to the lighty installation? Did you move this site from another server with a different web server?

            Hi

            I followed the instructions yes...

I am fairly sure it is the lighty installation... I have modx running on Apache on a different server (shared) and this one is dedicated running lighty... The Apache one seems to work fine with categories... Just bloody slow (shared - of course it's slow) but this is weird.

I don't understand this... It doesn't make rhyme or reason. It directs me to all different pages on my site... Depending on which chunk I click?!

Click on chunk submenu-rows-tpl in category navigation and I get directed to myurl.com/health

Anyone else running lighty can confirm this?

Well, I was thinking that if you moved the site, something could have gotten scrambled in the process.

What happens if you don't use friendly URLs and don't have the rewrite rules for lighty?

The URLs for editing chunks look like
              http://sottwell.sottwell.modxcloud.com/manager/index.php?a=10&id=50

no matter what category the chunk is in (or not). Does the resource ID you get sent to match the ID of the chunk you're trying to edit?

Hmm... a closer look at that configuration example doesn't look right; Revo doesn't have any index-ajax.php files.

I'm going to give this a try once home from work and let you know.

OK I've found out a little more about this... the resource ID is correct but it seems to be getting the directory for the manager incorrect. For example... when I click on "New Template" under the elements section, instead of directing me to myurl/manager/?a=18 it redirects me to myurl/index.php?a=18. I have been working around this by simply manually inserting /manager/ in front of the ?a=18 part and then it works just peachy.

This is really throwing me for a loop... it's like most of my links in the manager redirect to index.php?whateverID instead of /manager/?whateverID

The only things possibly not normal about my setup are...

                    1) Running Lighttpd
                    2) Core folder is beneath /www
                    3) The manager folder is not called manager.

Options 2 and 3 were setup during install.

Anyone able to help me out a bit with this?

Sounds like your manager url is missing the trailing forward slash (/) after manager. I run almost exclusivly from lighttpd and that is the most common issue. Can you post your redirect rules from your lighhtpd.conf file?
