Answered Please Wait ... Saving ... - LOOP!

Hi,

I've a really strange problem: it's not possible to save the ressource after pasting or typing a certain kind of text. Pasting other text or content works but not this particular one though it's only plain text. And yes, it is REALLY plain text.

GENERAL:
System: MODX Revo 2.2.6 pl
PHP Version: 5.3.18
Server: Linux Apache
Error message: Please Wait ... Saving ... (endless saving)

OTHER:
Language of the text: english (no special characters)
TinyMCE: not installed (doesn't work with TinyMCE either)
Cache: cleared
log files: inconspicuous
Used browser: Chrome, Safari, Firefox
Saving other ressources with other content: ok
Saving the same resource with other content: ok
Creating a new ressource to save the particular text in it: didn't work
Saving the text on another ressource: didn't work

I suppose that this could be a problem with the server settings (though I've absolutely no idea which kind of problem). It's possible to save this particular text in other Revo installations hosted by other hosters. Today, I installed MODX Revo on my own web space. I have the same hoster like the customer. Result: I cannot save this particular text ...

Does anyone have an idea what kind of problem this could be? Is there a server setting which could cause this problem or is it a MODX bug?

I recall a thread maybe 6 months ago where a certain word caused issue. I do not recall specifics enough to search for it though, sorry.

Due to copyright reasons I cannot paste the whole text. But this is one of the passages that cannot be saved:

to gamble away some money at the casino every night

I searched the forum for postings with the same please-wait-saving loop problem. But none of the suggestions worked for me :-(

That sounds like some sort of web app firewall blocking going on. Where is this hosted?

I had a similar issue once with the word "Select" - I think it was in Evo though - and it did turn out to be a mod_security issue as Bob suggested.

Yes, it's the word "casino" (btw: a text from ETA Hoffmann, a german author in the 19th century). I called the hoster (Sysprovide, a small hoster in Berlin, Germany) and told him the casino-problem. And yes, it was a problem with mod_security. He modified the setting and now it works

If the host is using mod_security in that way, you're likely to have other problems down the road. If any post with the word 'casino' in it was blocked, there are probably many other words that will trip you up.
