OK, so I'm unclear on what you mean by 'replace things one at a time.' Do you mean the components? Because The install that I did was on a different server (brand new install) with a restore using the sql file. So, there's something that changed in modx and that's what I need to figure out.

Ah, so you are actually using all-new core files then? Just the database was imported from the misbehaving site?
OK. I reinstalled this thing again with no luck. New install with a restored database. In my mind that points all fingers at something in the sql file. But, it still doesn't make sense.

hmm...
so, if you try the clean install before replace the contents with the project's, would it run as expected?
