Snippet to MySQL (Registration Form with Custom Hook) - Special Chars Issue

Hello everyone,

i have little problem with my registration form. I made a formit form with an custom hook. It works well but there are problems with some german special chars. If i submit the form, i can see non reproducible gibberish in the database like ü.

I completet Bobs Convert Guide to UTF-8, but there is still no change. in my config file also the character_set is set to utf-8.

So my Databse is utf-8, and the connection in the config file, too.

Do you have any clue, what could be wrong?

My ModX Version is 2.2.4
PHP 5.4
MySQL 5.0.96

i would be sooo grateful for any hint.
