Yeah sorry it's not that clear in the response.
Instead of using getResource, i'm actually using a custom snippet which displays the info I want randomly but doesn't do anything daily. The only reason using a custom snippet now is I needed some info from a custom table.
I'm then using this snippet with getCache, which i thought was going to be a bit more difficult than using with something like getResoruce, but it wasn't. Worked straight away, wish i'd discovered getCache earlier
Now going to use getCache with some of my other snippets that I know only need the cache clearing once a component is updated.
Oh and look at creating a way to manually clear if required, jasons blog post mentions some ideas which i'll try out.
