Does domain and email domain match? some host restricts this thing.
Just my 2 cents.
Yes they match. I’ve got it working on the old server fine. Just something must have gone amiss when it was transferred to the new server.
Note in error logo:
’old-username-from-previous-server’@’localhost’
Can’t find any reference to the old server username in database or in config.inc.php
Where else might it be stored?
Mostly harmless.
I would suggest you to ask your host about it, it sounds misconfig in server.
I’m not so sure. Looking at the log it seems to be giving an error for connecting to DB using an incorrect username, instead of current. Are there any other config files other than config.inc.php that need updating when moving to a new server??
Mostly harmless.
No, if you can login to manager and do editing, it means username/password is correct.
my head hurts. Maybe I should install it somewhere else and see if it’s still malfunctioning.
Might a 0.96 upgrade give things a jiggle?
Mostly harmless.
I suggest an upgrade unless you have modified core snippets, that can be a headache comparing code, importing and having it break. But I do agree, it sounds like a hangup with the hosting service.
Good Luck!
It was a hosting problem. Luckily I had Modx on two of their servers, one on which the email worked and one that didn’t so it was easy to prove my point that it wasn’t Modx!
Here’s the reason why it didn’t work - in the web hosts words:
"The issue is a combination of use sender_verify checking to verify emails are coming from real users, and the address the original server is using to send the email. If the receiving server is using sender_verify (which many do, including us), then any email sent to them has to respond that it is a valid email when checked. If you are using a script and it sends from nobody@server_name, or username@server_name, then when the receiving mail server checks back those have to be listed as valid addresses. The actual setup to do so varies depending on the server configuration."
Mostly harmless.
