I'm not familiar with FormitRetriever, but that's what will give you the email to use as the WHERE condition. The pre-hook snippet would use that value in fetching the values to load into the new form. While I vaguely understand how it should go, I've never done it, so can't really be more specific. indeed, i'ev not used the Where clause with FormItRetriever either thank you for all your help lets see if i can get this thing working now - the joys of clever ideas!
If the FormIt hooks don't work for you, you might be able to write a standard Snippet to fetch the data and then use setPlaceholder to set the values into the appropriate places on the form. You'll just want to make sure that your snippet doesn't fight with FormIt's attempts to set those same placeholders.

In my experience, the snippet route will be much easier than getting it done with FormIt.
I would put the snippet at the top of the second page. Have the first form post enough information to identify the user, then have your snippet get the data and set the placeholders embedded in the second page.
